Articulation Plan

The purpose of this instrument is to document the approval of an Articulation Plan for specified courses and/or programs in the above noted program/discipline between Kilgore College, 1100 Broadway, Kilgore, Texas 75662 and New Diana, hereinafter referred to as "LEA" (Local Education Agency).  The approval for articulation credit to be awarded based on this Articulation Plan has been provided for in the Articulation Agreement previously signed by officials from Kilgore College and the above mentioned LEA.

This document provides a mechanism to enable students who have completed specified courses and/or programs at the above mentioned LEA under the specific conditions of articulation to be granted college credit by articulation.  The students at the high school level may choose one of three delivery methods in their pursuit of vocational training that may result in the student earning college credits.

  1. The high school student may enroll in college courses and receive dual credit at the high school and the college.  The student must bring a form from the high school signed by the principal showing that the student has permission to take college courses.  The student will then go through the regular registration process at Kilgore College.

  2. The high school may contract with the college so that the student receives high school credit for courses taken at the college.  Contracts will be negotiated between the college and LEA on an individual basis by administrators from each institution.  College credits then may be earned through departmental exam program as described in the Kilgore College catalog.

  3. The student may take high school courses that earn college credit through this articulation agreement.


1.01        The student must meet all Kilgore College admissions requirements and be officially enrolled in Kilgore College to be eligible for credit via articulation.

1.02 A.    High school students enrolled under the contract or articulation enrollment program must graduate from high school and complete a minimum of 15 semester hours with Kilgore College before articulation credit can be placed on the college transcript.

1.02 B.     High school students enrolled under the dual enrollment program must graduate from high school before credit can be awarded.

1.03          The student must have an official high school transcript on file with the Kilgore College Registrar's Office.

1.04          The student must initiate an official degree plan with the appropriate department chair or program coordinator at the time of enrollment.

1.05           The appropriate college department coordinator will be responsible for evaluating the official high school transcript and recommending articulation credit based on the stated conditions in the applicable Articulation Plan using the "Student Articulation Approval" from.  This recommendation is approved by the Dean of Business, Technology and Language Development and forwarded to the Kilgore College Registrar's office for implementation.

1.06           A fee of $25 will be charged by the Registrar's office to the student for posting each course articulated or course earned through departmental exam.

1.07           The maximum amount of articulated credit that may be requested by a high school student is 15 semester credit hours.

1.08           The student must have completed the high school courses for which articulation credit is being requested within 28 months of the request for credit.  Credit for high school courses taken beyond the 28 month limit may be granted through petition to the Dean of Business, Technology and Language Development.

1.09           The student must meet all conditions for articulation credit stated in the specified Articulation Plan which covers the requested courses.

1.10           All specific Articulation Plans will be on file with the Registrar's Office and the appropriate designated dean.

1.11           The student must have successfully completed specified high school course(s) and received a grade of 90% or better in order for credit to be awarded.
