Kindergarten Information
Lunches Student lunches are $1.50 and milk is $.35. Lunch time is at 12:00 pm. Breakfast is $1.25 and begins at 7:30 am. Please send lunch money in an envelope with your child’s name, teacher’s name and “Lunch money” written on it. You are welcome to come and have lunch with your child. If you would like you can put lunch money on your child’s account and check your child’s balance. Lunch Money Now
Snacks Each child will be asked to provide snacks on assigned days. The snacks must be nutritious and “non-messy” as possible. Candy, Chips, and Carbonated drinks are not allowed. Some snack suggestions are: pretzels, popcorn, raisins, fruit, crackers, animal crackers, etc.
Rest Time Rest time will be a quiet time each day when we read or listen to stories. Children are not required to sleep, but if a child should drop off to sleep, he/she will be allowed to sleep for 30 minutes.
Attendance Consistent and punctual attendance is a desirable trait. Please be sure your child arrives at school by 7:50 am. Children will go the cafeteria upon arrival if they are to eat breakfast, if not they will come to their class room. The tardy bell rings at 7:55 am. Students arriving after that time will be required to check in at the school office. If your child has to be absent, please send a dated note explaining the reason for the absence when your child returns to school. If your child must be out for more than two days, please contact the office. Folders Folders will be sent home daily and expected to be returned the next day. Folders will contain your child’s work, daily conduct information and any correspondences that need to be sent to you. At the beginning of each month a calendar with class activities and snack assignments will be enclosed. Any important dates for the upcoming month, letters, numbers and other topics of study will be included. Please remove papers daily and return any that need to be returned. Don’t forget to initial your child’s calendar square each day. Discipline Management Classroom discipline problems can be a roadblock effective teaching and learning. In order to provide your child with the learning environment he/she deserves, discipline problems must be kept to a minimum. This is the discipline plan that we will be using at Robert F. Hunt Elementary.
1st offense---Verbal warning; rehearse rules
Serious infractions involving sexual issues, violence, profanity or disrespect for authority will result in immediate removal from class activities and being sent to the principal’s office. Please take the time to discuss classroom rules with your child prior to school time and review them often if your child is having a problem with rules. When parents and teachers work together, a child is more likely to respond positively. While your child is learning the rules, several verbal warnings and reminders’ will be given before a first offense write up is given.
